humble-rinse-repeat

Sometimes you try harder
You push faster and burn brighter
I have been on “go” for years now
So much energy coursing through my system
the only way I knew how to manage was to self destruct
It wasn’t until my body became so sick
My mind so corrupt
I got slow
Or what others called “ill”
I am reminded of this now,
I am sick, just a little under the weather
Been traveling a ton and the lack of care caught up with me
But I didn’t fight it
I didn’t fix it
I didn’t curse it
Or suppress it
I curled into bed with tea and emergency c and felt my body soft and bold start to repair itself
I couldn’t slow down to save my life for so many years
And yes, I still prefer the speed
Fast, intense, heat
After all that is me
But I am learning to honor when I need to go slow and say no
I sent some emails tonight I didn’t want to send
The ones you keep in your drafts for who knows when, but I am pulling back
And pulling in
I need some more time for me
For writing
For dreaming
For creating
For playing
I have said yes to a few too many of the “wrong” things this year.
In attempts to keep the peace
Make friends
Or garner goodwill
It hasn’t helped me and most of my arrangements from this place have not turned out so well
“Surprise surprise”
I know
But sometimes, many times, we need to relearn the obvious.
Humble, rinse and repeat
