It takes courage.
At least a few times a week someone comments
on one of my quote and says “easier said than done”
To which I always say some version of the same thing,
“Well yes, most most everything is easier said than done”
Awareness doesn’t necessarily lead to transformation
You have to do THE WORK. You have to do YOUR WORK
It takes work. Most often a lot of work,
and difficult work at that

To me, there is often a laziness
around personal development
People expect to work for years
if they want to excel at most anything
If you wanted to become an accomplished athlete,
you would expect to train your body and mind for years
And you would need to do so consistently
If you wanted to become a skilled surgeon, same thing
A great teacher, speaker, mechanic, artist, coach, engineer,
you name it — it all takes practice, perseverance and effort

The same is true of personal development,
but when it comes to doing work on self,
I find most don’t really want to do the truly hard
and yes, sometimes messy work

We want to read books and spout spiritual platitudes
I know because I am guilty of this myself
And it is embarrassing when I catch myself saying things,
I know I have not put into practice
Self discovery can be excruciating
But sleeping?
But staying asleep — actively choosing unconsciousness
once you are aware there is an alternative –
that is it’s own unique form of silent suffering

Be willing to face the fire
walk through it
And let everything burn away that is not you
It may not be pleasant
But it will be worth it
Pain can crack us open like nothing else
And what is on the other side
what is on the inside
just might be the very best version of you
