The Psychology of Cleansing

Detoxifying cleanses and fasts are a time-honored part of the wellness coach’s toolkit, and in recent years they’ve gotten plenty of publicity from high-profile nutrition experts. But “cleansing” is no recent trend–in fact, humans have practiced fasting for both health and ritual purposes for thousands of years. And while they can be great for clearing toxins of all kinds out of your body systems, if that’s all you’re focusing on, you’re only getting a fragment of the potential benefits that a good cleanse can offer.
