I do, I like messy, honest, loyal people
Those who understand that chaos often precedes greatness
Those who choose truth over comfort
And those who value loyalty over likeability

The people you surround yourself with impact you, greatly
This is not some fanciful notion, it’s truth
Be relentless about who you allow into your inner circle
Be clear about what matters to you
Be committed to what you say you stand for
Be intentional about who you surround yourself with

And have the courage to be the kind of friend you crave
It’s our responsibility to not only be clear about what we want
but to live in a way that is congruent with our values
This might mean you have less “friends”
And it will certainly result in some people
not wanting to be around you

You will likely be called crazy, intense and perhaps demanding
But I am not so sure this is a bad thing
I would rather be alone
than insincere
I would be rather be messy
than spend my time posturing
I would rather be reliable
than agreeable

Choose your people carefully
Be willing to color well over the lines
Don’t read rule books
Walk your talk
And always always stay true to you,
and to what you say matters to you

I am pretty sure
it just might change your life
in the most very magical of ways
